Theseating installation works across the eastern aspect of the building. At thelobby entrance there is a bench seat for casual meetings for visitors andresidence, the bench is set within landscaping which includes a small tree andplant bed. The concrete form thensubmerges into the ground only to remerge at the piazza. At the main caféentrance the seating will serve as informal seating for residence and caféclientele. The seating installation terminates at the northern aspect of thepiazza.
Theform and shape of the seating installation responds to the contemporaryarchitecture, referencing the juxtaposition of crisp linear elements andexpansive curves. Theseating areas integrate sustainably harvested teak oroak which complement the pale breeze blocks and wooden batons at the mainentry. Woodis a low thermal conductive material and appropriate for seating surfaces.
CanopyLighting and embossed wall pattern
Themain entry to the building will feature a light installation and embossed concretewall creating a welcoming ambience.
Drawingon the theme Biotic interactions; an array of sprawling organic lines emerge fromthe ground, and are embossed into the concrete surface.
Thelight sculpture will be seamlessly integrated into the canopy's form. The design intention was to contribute to therefined architectural elements without adding newmaterials and forms. Through exploring anumber of concepts we discovered that the space worked better with minimalintervention, and therefore decided to integrate the lighting into thearchitecture.
Thesuite of artworks will sharea common design language that links strongly to the architecture, residence andburgeoning sophistication of Como.
